Four families are suing the federal government over the Navy's jet fuel leak from the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility in Hawaii.

This lawsuit, the first of its kind to be files over the leaks, alleges that the Navy failed to fully disclose the contamination's extent, recognize ongoing health issues among affected families, or provide adequate medical care. Personal injury lawyer Kristina Baehr of Just Well Law in Austin, Texas and Lyle Hosoda of Hosoda Law Group in Honolulu are the attorneys representing the families.

The Department of Defense had previously announced the permanent closure of the facility following two separate leaks in May and November of the previous year. The plaintiffs claim that they and their children suffered various health problems after toxic exposure from contaminated water, leading to their evacuation from their homes.

The families are suing the federal government for negligence, medical negligence, failure to treat, and emotional distress. The lawsuit filed by toxic torts attorney Kristina Baehr accuses the government of withholding information about the contamination while families continued to consume and use the toxic water.
